Yes. Every pistol sold in India must be purchased against a valid arms license issued under the Arms Act, 1959 and the Arms Rules, 2016. We sell only through our authorized dealer network, and every dealer is required to verify a valid license before any sale.

You apply through the licensing authority, typically the District Magistrate or Commissioner of Police in metropolitan areas. Many states now allow you to begin the application online through the NDAL ALIS portal, though document submission and verification usually still need a physical visit to your local office. You will need to show a genuine need for the firearm, most commonly self defense or sport shooting, along with the required documents and fees for your state.

You will need four recent passport size photographs on a white background, proof of date of birth, and identification proof such as your Aadhaar Card. If you do not have an Aadhaar Card, an affidavit along with an alternative ID such as a passport, voter ID, or PAN card is accepted instead. Requirements can vary slightly by state, so always confirm the exact list with your local licensing authority before applying.

Processing time for a non prohibited bore license typically runs from two to six months from the date you apply, and prohibited bore licenses can take six months to over a year since they require Ministry of Home Affairs approval. Timelines vary quite a bit by state and district, so treat this as a general range rather than a guarantee.

NPB stands for Non Prohibited Bore, and PB stands for Prohibited Bore. Non Prohibited Bore covers firearms that civilians can own with approval from their District Magistrate or Commissioner of Police, while Prohibited Bore firearms require approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs and are issued only in exceptional circumstances. Which category a specific caliber falls under can vary and has changed over the years, so we always recommend confirming the current classification for any specific model directly with your licensing authority before applying.

You can own more than one firearm on a single arms license, but each type has to be individually endorsed after you get permission from the licensing authority.Since the Arms Amendment Act of 2019, the overall limit is two firearms per license holder. If you already own one firearm and want to add another, you will need to apply separately for that addition and explain your reason for it.

Interstate travel with a licensed firearm generally requires a separate travel permission or NOC from your licensing authority, so this is not something you can simply do on the strength of your existing license alone. Always apply for the correct travel authorization well before you plan to travel, and carry your license and any travel documents with you at all times.

Safe storage is a legal requirement, not just good practice. We cover this in detail, including step by step guidance, on our dedicated Safety, Storage and Transportation page. As a general rule, your firearm should always be stored unloaded, secured in a proper lockable container, and kept completely separate from ammunition.

Yes, anyone applying for an arms license is required to complete a safety training course related to arms handling before the license is granted.

Arms licenses are typically valid for three years, with some states issuing five year licenses, and you need to renew before it expires. It is best to start your renewal application around ninety days before your license expires so there is no gap in your ability to legally hold your firearm.

Yes, but the process has to go through proper channels. You need to submit an application along with your original license and the required stamp, and you also need to inform the arms branch of your intention to sell.Never sell or transfer a firearm outside this formal process.

We cover the basics in writing on our Safety, Storage and Transportation page, and we also have full video walkthroughs on our YouTube channel for anyone who prefers to watch each step. We would always rather you take the time to learn this properly than rush it.
